May 2016 First Visit.... August 2016 Second Visit

Five years of battling with a difficult situation. I felt it was time to re-establish myself as owner of this amazing property and what was my home between 2008 and 2011.

After my partner abandoned me in 2010, I had a nervous breakdown, he literally drove me nuts promising to return but stringing me along, this went on for 7 torturous months until I cracked and was forbidden to remain in my home and forced to return to England for medical reasons...really it was my mental health I was fragile vulnerable and broken.  He made no effort to help me move on financially, emotionally for spiritually.  Even after my return to England he made no effort to keep me informed about the house bearing in mind it was my money that clinched the deal, until I found a very kind and supportive Lawyer who specialises in French Law.

I am not going to dwell on the past, it is gone it no longer exists however, I have learnt from it and I feel so strong and empowered through what happened. My visit in May 2016 gave me the energy and it is with gratitude to Dani for giving me that strength to go forward.

I visited Las Couenas with excitement and anticipation. However, I was not prepared for what was waiting for me. It turns out my ex partner decided to rent the house out again for a second time without telling me. This was a shock for me and for them when I turned up as I had informed him that I would be visiting in May.

It seems pointless at this stage to go back over old ground.  Fast forward to July 21st and the tenants have moved out not without its dramas, however, it is with great relief and happiness the house is now empty and awaiting appreciative and grateful folk to move in.

The house is perfect for a family, it has three bedrooms and large bathroom and master bedroom.  The living room is large with a wood-burner.  A galley kitchen  but I am looking to extend it, to make it into a large family kitchen with another wood-burner.  The kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven.

The house has a beautiful large gravel court yard in the front with a working well,  Vine which produced over 200 bunches of grapes for wine making.  I managed to make some superior quality wine in 2009 just one year after moving in, a Lime tree and Flowering Cherry, there are borders with Iris, Roses, Hibiscus and other ornamental plants.  The back has a large grass garden with mature Oaks, Ash, Silver Birch and a Walnut Tree.  The trees have been recently tailored and cut back with sensitivity.  Trees are a particular passion of mine and although I have been absent for the last five years want to ensure the garden is persevered and cared for as with the house. There is a hangar for literally hanging out in the summer or winter if you're up to it, eating al fresco is what France is all about. There is a small pond which I built in 2010.

It was never my intention to move away this is my dream home and will be again soon. For the time being I would like to find some lovely tenants who will love this as their potential home and love it  as much as I do. The rents in this area are very low 450 euros per month, on a three year tenancy agreement (unfurnished) on top of that there is a 90 euro annual charge for water, it is metred and annual empting of the septic tank which is around 70 euros it may only need emptying every two years.   There is a council tax and I would have to discuss this further with you.   I can help advise where to get inexpensive second hand white goods and furniture, there are lots of charity shops and I have bits and pieces you could borrow.

If you are keen gardeners all the better I am delighted you would like to grow your own vegetables, however the last tenants took it upon themselves to till the field at the back of the house and it now unusable for grazing or growing as there is no water source and it is too far from any taps or the well.
The summers get very hot here in the Creuse and water is precious with careful planning you can obtain a fantastic crop of vegetables, close to the house.

If you think you could see yourself living here or know of anyone who would please go to the contact page and leave your details I will be more than happy to discuss this further with you, I respond very soon upon receiving any emails so you wont be left wondering when I will get back to you.

Bonne chance...bon courage.....
